In a post on Facebook the promoters said: “(It) was not an easy decision for us to make, but having all finished university and no longer able to commit to midweek debauchery, it only seems right to pass on the baton to the next generation. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have been involved in making the magic happen over the last half decade.”
“We would like to thank the numerous friends who have helped (too many to name drop), the many PR staff past and present, the various graphic designers, our resident DJs, the clubbers, the lovely door staff, the reliable bar staff and everyone else who have put their efforts into making each week extra-special over the years - including the powers that be in Subby!”
Sub Rosa’s final four parties will take place each Wednesday night throughout April, featuring Intergalactic Funk Smugglers on the 6th, Anthony Naples on the 13th, Loose Joints on the 20th and Silicone Soul for their final party on the 27th.
Since launching in 2011 Sub Rosa have made a consistent effort to book exciting, cutting-edge DJs, exposing Glasgow’s midweek audience to the likes of Move D, Leon Vynehall, Moxie and Disclosure. Staunch supporters of Glasgow talent, they regularly collaborated with local promoters, as well as providing a platform for up and coming DJs and collectives, recently hosting West End Communications and Bigfoot’s Tea Party among others.
We’d personally like to applaud Sub Rosa for investing equally as much in local talent as international bookings and headline acts, and although there has been no indication of future plans, we’re sure anything whatever they do next will be bang on-point.
