Home to producers like Lindstrøm, Todd Terje and Prins Thomas, Norway has a rich heritage in dance music. The ‘cosmic disco’ sound most commonly associated with these producers has engaged global audiences, but only really scratches the surface of the country’s vibrant subculture and love affair with electronic music.

‘Northern Disco Lights’ tells the untold story of a group of teenagers in the arctic city of Tromsø, who set off a chain of events that would go on to transform their country.

To escape the boredom of growing up in a remote outpost they created their own music scene, setting up radio stations, parties, building synthesizers and making tunes. Word spread as like-minded souls recognised the call to arms and inspired a generation of kids who would go on to change dance music and Norway forever.”

Sub Club will host the Scottish premiere of ‘Northern Disco Lights’ in partnership with Glasgow Film Festival on Sunday 30th April, with Prins Thomas presenting the film and also playing a special-extended afterparty at the club.
