Techno heavyweights Slam are back with a new release on their own imprint, Soma Records. Following their excellent ‘Transmissions’ compilation which showcased some of Glasgow’s finest techno talent, the ‘Fractious EP’ sees Orde Meikle and Stuart McMillan deliver two punishing peak-time weapons, flexing their musical muscles in the most devastating manner.

Title track, ‘Fractious’, throws down a pulsing bassline while stripped-back percussion and a solid kick nail it to the floor. An industrial synth hook maintains the pressure as things reach boiling point before the drop. The flipside, ‘Serpent’, burrows even deeper into the darkness with an unrelenting and driving energy which will no doubt sound monumental on a big soundsystem.
