Responsible for ghetto house classics such as ‘House-O-Matic’, ‘2 B Free’ and ‘Freak Like Me’ (which were re-issued by Numbers as part of a greatest hits package in 2015), DJ Deeon is one of house music’s key producers, with some 20 releases on seminal Chicago label Dance Mania. Inspiring everyone from Nina Kraviz to Night Slugs, the raw, high-velocity sound of ghetto house helped pave the way for pumped-up sub-genres like footwork and juke.
DJ Deeon’s mix will air between 7-9pm this Saturday on The Sierra Alliance, a monthly show on Subcity Radio focused on Chicago house, ghetto tech and jersey.
The show will also feature live mixes from Glasgow’s Nightwave, who collaborated with DJ Deeon on her 2014 EP ‘Hit It’ and manages her own label Heka Trax, and Bleaker, who released his debut EP ‘Hype (Funk)’ on Unknown To The Unknown last year and represents the cross-border Gang Fatale crew.
