There’s always been something exciting and unpredictable about Salvador Navarrete aka Sega Bodega. He’s an artist who doesn’t seem to work to an agenda, releasing music periodically, but always pushing boundaries. Last week he unveiled his latest experiment, ‘Soundtrack Series’, in which he takes existing film trailers and re-scores them with his own music.
For those who are familiar with Sega Bodega’s previous releases, you’ll know that his sound is wonderfully cinematic, using texture, colour and emotion to absorb the listener. Selecting '40 Days Of Silence' and Larry Clark’s cult classic 'KIDS' as his canvas, we get a real taste of what the producer is capable of, creating spiralling beauty in one and arresting tension in the other.
