Electronic music and club culture has celebrated its fair share of anniversaries recently, from long-standing residencies to prolific labels, but the arrival of Sankey’s 20th anniversary is particularly special. This year, the legendary Manchester club marks two decades of incredible parties and an institution which is now recognised around the world. Since its inception in 1994 the club has stood as a pillar on the Manchester scene, promoting the quintessential underground experience – something which is replicated in their sister venue, [Sankeys Ibiza].
Over the next few months Sankeys is going on tour, bringing some of its world-class residents and fondest guests to one of Glasgow’s own institutions, The Arches on March 14th. Announcing the anticipated line-up last Friday afternoon, you can expect to see the likes of Darius Syrossian, Sidney Charles and Andrea Oliva, with Mark Knight’s Toolroom Records also utilising the Main Arch, Dance Arch, Studio and Café. Other names on the bill include Jozef K, Weiss, Ripperton and Lauren Lane. It’s shaping up to be a huge night to match a huge occasion, and the perfect way to celebrate 20 years of one of the world’s finest clubs.
