Road-tested by Pete Tong at Mixmag’s LA Lab earlier this year (check 54mins in – or 52 if you want to see Pete make a fumble), the debut release from Rob Etherson is a certified smasher. Of course, you’d expect nothing less from one half of Mia Dora, the production outfit he shares with Al Quinn, with their recent remix of Human Life also proving popular with Radio 1’s dance royalty.

Picked up by Kevin McKay for Glasgow Underground, ‘The Z List’ serves up two solid cuts which are built for the dancefloor. The lead track rolls out a menacing acid bassline which swells before releasing a satisfying drop, while the flipside, ‘Trust In Me’, goes a bit deeper, with oriental sounding stabs and lively percussion creating an addictive groove. This belongs anywhere but the Z-List…

Rob Etherson ‘The Z List’ is out now on Glasgow Underground. Catch Mia Dora play live at Optimo on June 5th.
