The Red Bull Music Academy UK Tour is set to return to Glasgow this October, hosting a programme of events across the city with rising talant, home-grown icons and international stars.
The programme continues the Academy’s nearly 20-year mission to celebrate and educate within music, shining a light on vital artists and movements from music’s past, present and future, with other stops on the Tour including London, Leeds and Liverpool. The Academy hosted its inaugural Glasgow event last year, with appearances from the likes of Danny Brown, Koreless, Nightwave and Optimo.
Returning to Glasgow from the 13th-16th October, this year’s event looks set to be sensational, with parties and performances including a GLA X LDN grime takeover at The Poetry Club featuring D Double E, Sir Spiro, DJ Milktray, Bushido and Rapture 4D; a very special live performance from Kolsch at The Barrowlands and, perhaps most intriguingly of all, a subterranean party hosted by Numbers at a secret, never before used venue with Lorenzo Senni, Denis Sulta and General Ludd.
Elsewhere, Jackmaster is set to put us in a spin as he lays down an intimate set at Majestic Laundrette on Argyle St (yes, you read that right), pallying-up with NTS resident Throwing Shade for an evening called ‘Discospin’. La Cheetah will host New York’s noted party slayers Mister Saturday Night for a bash across the club’s two floors, featuring Actress, Beatrice Dillon, Lukid and La Cheetah residents Wardy and Dom D’Sylva; the University of Glasgow plays host to A Modular Synth Workshop with Mumdance, Russell Haswell, ALM Busy Circuits and Aleks Jurcyzk of Glasgow’s music tech institution Rubadub, while hip hop provocateurs Young Fathers discuss the musical with the political at the city’s Mitchell Library.
