By now you’ll probably be aware that one of clubland’s great institutions, the Sub Club, will launch its own label this October, and if you’re not, then the news will surely come with huge excitement.
After serving Glasgow for some 28 years, the subterranean club (which is often regarded as one of the world’s finest and a favourite with DJs and punters alike), has unveiled Nautilus Rising, an imprint which will seemingly reflect the venue’s favourable booking policy of both local and unsung talent alongside international names.
Following a capacity launch party with Boiler Room last week, you can now preview the label’s first release, with music from Vince Watson, Stephen Lopkin, Lord of the Isles and Alex Smoke. From the shimmering and reflective chords of Watson’s ‘Subculture Story’ (which is presumably a tribute to the Sub Club’s Saturday night stronghold with Harri & Domenic), to the heady delirium of Smoke’s ‘Straits’, the EP certainly captures the drama of a night on the Subby’s bodysonic dancefloor...
Nautilus Rising 001 will be available on Oct 15th. Follow Nautilus Rising on Facebook for more details.
