NEKSWAN – MAGNOLIA/HUSTLE AMONGST THE PETALS (Bandcamp)

We’re not sure when Scottish hip hop will get the props it fully deserves, but while there’s MCs like Nekswan making moves we’re sure its time will come. ‘Magnolia/Hustle Amongst The Petals’ both feature on his self-released album ‘Waves’, which, although rough around the edges, underlines the potential of a switched on and socially aware artist. Delivering mature, introspective lyrics over Florist’s soulful beats, this sounds like Glasgow.

BODY DOUBLE – TROUBLES EP (Clubwerks)

When you get radio support from the likes of Kowton and Teki Latex, you know you’ve got something hot. Body Double is the new project from Glasgow producer Tommy Hood (previously Almost), and while he’s been off the scene for a while, he’s come back with a smasher. The ‘Troubles’ EP is all about jacked-up club action which will appeal to fans of Nightwave and those with a soft-spot for bass.

KAMI-O – XV (Soundcloud)

You may have heard us drop Kami-O’s track ‘Escape’ in the most recent edition of SynthGlasgow Radio. As someone we know very little about, he’s definitely got our attention, boasting a range of beats on his soundcloud which all point toward a promising talent. His most recent upload, ‘XV’, is a sun-setting soul groove featuring warm bass under dusty percussion.
