For our first Local Hero feature of 2015 we’re heading to Japan (via Glasgow), where we find recently re-located producer, Holobeams. No stranger to our website, Iain Foxwell’s productions are lush, textured and bright, taking in beautiful soundscapes and emotive melodies. Comprised of five tracks, ‘It’s An Endless World’ is perhaps Iain’s finest work to date.
It was one of the most Shazamed tracks at last year’s Hideout festival, but Illyus & Barrientos’ hip-house banger, ‘Ballin’ ain’t done yet. Featured as part of Love & Other’s ‘A Year In Love’ compilation, here is a fresh remix by mysterious Glasgow producer, Tiptoes. Turning up the heat, this dub-scraping mix has some serious Detroit flavour.
Mia Dora definitely finished 2014 on a high note, with this, their last remix of the year reflecting a techier edge in their productions. Boasting a soulful vocal we imagine ‘El Diablo’ was a pleasure to work on, juxtaposing Englund's voice over a gritty bassline and menacing chords. Recently launching new label, Posterboy Records, we’re very much looking forward to seeing what 2015 has in store for the duo.
Alex-Ander is a producer who has been bubbling away under the radar for a few years now and certainly deserves some recognition. After a handful of releases on his own label, Ander-Traxx, he’s back with a fresh take on James Johnston’s 2012 EP ‘After Everything’ (scheduled for re-release in the coming months). With a hooky vocal cut and old school strings, this is one oozes class.
