Glasgow’s freeform radio station, Subcity, hosted two special guest mixes this weekend, with Throwing Shade joining Grand Unify Grooves live in the studio and Chicago legend, Paul Johnson, providing a mix for Sierra Alliance.

London producer and DJ, Throwing Shade was in Glasgow as part of Red Bull’s Music Academy Tour, performing an all-vinyl disco set in the incredibly intimate environs of the Majestic Laundrette. Her mix for Grand Unify Grooves connects the dots between disco, house, exotic pop and leftfield electronics, while she also talks about her recent visit to Japan, her Master’s degree and how she approaches a radio and club set.

Sierra Alliance hosted a mix from legendary Chicago DJ, Paul Johnson on their Saturday evening show, providing an hour of soulful house, acid bumpers and jacking rhythms. Paul Johnson has released over 370 EPs since the early 90s, with cuts on Cajual, Dance Mania and Peacefrog. He reached number 5 in the UK chart with his unavoidable 99' classic ‘Get Get Down’.
