This year one of Glasgow’s favourite parties, Killer Kitsch, celebrates its tenth anniversary. There’s no escaping how old this makes us feel, but we’re also privileged to have experienced the journey from the very start, whether it was dancing like a loon beneath those giant red curtains or stepping in for the occasional DJ set. Presided over by founder and resident, Euan Neilson, its popularity has been consistent, and indeed grown since making The Buff Club home in 2005. One of the original student alternatives to keep Glasgow’s midweek faithful dancing, their success can undoubtedly be attributed to the Killer Kitsch residents and a music policy which is accessible and adventurous. Of course, what’s popular in the mainstream has changed dramatically over the last ten years, allowing them to mix credible chart records with underground gems, entertaining and educating their dancers in equal measure.
To mark this special occasion Euan will be releasing a new mix once a month for every year Killer Kitsch has been running, featuring tracks from that particular year. There will also be a series of special parties to help celebrate the anniversary, the first of which will be on the 24th Feb, punctuating their regular events every Tuesday.
