Big Miz – Good Thing (DABJ)
Previously producing under the name Mirrors, Chris McFarlane has been on the come-up for a few years now, regularly uploading white label groovers to his Soundcloud. Adopting a new guise, Big Miz, his first official EP has been jumped on by Dixon Avenue Basement Jams who he’ll be joining for a Boiler Room special at the Sub Club next week. Lead track, ‘Good Thing’, fuses sounds from Detroit and Chicago for a floor-focused workout.
Bleaker – Hype (Funk) (Rinse FM Rip)
As the Glasgow representative of DJ and production crew, Gang Fatale, Bleaker has already made an impressive debut on the aforementioned Boiler Room while also heading up parties at The Art School, La Cheetah and Sub Club. With a sound which straddles house, techno, booty and bass, it’s no wonder he can count DJ Haus, Chambray and LuckyMe as fans. Check out his most recent upload below:
WHITE – Future Pleasures (Sony)
Described as "one of the finest debuts from a Glaswegian outfit since Franz Ferdinand’s Take Me Out", ‘Future Pleasures’ has a pulsing bassline made for the dancefloor. With scratching guitar licks racing alongside and an impassioned vocal, it’s the DFA-induced adrenaline rush we’ve been waiting for, and WHITE certainly have the charisma to deliver it. Catch them live at Stereo this Friday.
Kami-O is someone new for 2015, but his productions have been showing plenty of promise. Recently throwing his own party called Lightworks – where he invited a handful of local artists to perform alongside him – he’s clearly invested in Glasgow’s burgeoning beat scene. His latest effort, ‘Bloom’, could soundtrack New Horizon’s flypast Pluto.
