Dan Shake’s fast-growing reputation as a sublime selector is well-deserved. Increasingly big gigs at festivals across Europe have been well-received, helping generate positive (and well deserved) hype. His sets are hard to pin down to one genre and his eclectic sound means he is just as likely to drop energetic disco as he is thunderous acid - all mixed together with effortless ease. As one YouTube comment on his recent Boiler Room set reads: “Track selection is up there with Four Tet's London set and possibly even MCDE's Dekmantel 2014 set?! Class...”
As well as DJ’ing, his status as a producer is already established. With two Boiler Room debuts under his belt, a handful of sold out EPs and a contribution to one of my favourite labels, Lumberjacks in Hell, Shake is making a mark not just through his own sets, but with tracks that have been key in many record bags across the globe. Plus, he’s the first non-Detroiter to be signed to Moodymann’s label, Mahogani Music. It would be fair to say things are going well for the 24 year old.
