“You refuse to put anything before your priiiiide.” Chances are, if you were raving in a tent, boat or basement this summer, or caught Jackmaster anytime over the last year, you probably will have heard ‘Pride’. A secret weapon for so long and now available as a highly sought after vinyl on Numbers, it was one of 2015’s most frequently ID’d tracks and it’s still tearing up the dance. The man behind it is Barcelona-based producer Adesse Versions, and ‘Pride’ is just the latest in a series of four-alarm belters.

While he’s not necessarily the most visible artist (he only revealed his true identity recently), his distinctive productions have made him an underground favourite, and releases like ‘Baayi’ and ‘Pressured’ continue to rule some two years after they dropped. Tonight (Dec 1st), Adesse Versions makes an anticipated debut at the Sub Club for i AM and he’s agreed to share some of the tracks which are currently moving his dancefloor:

1/ COS BER ZAM - NE NOYA (DAPHNI REMIX)

“Big afro sound with incredible uplifting synth crescendos; reminds me of the intro to an old Rainbow album. It manages to be eclectic, but very functional on a dancefloor too.”

2/ DJ NORI - HAPPY SUNDAY (MAURICE FULTON REMIX)

“The original is really slow, so I play this at +10% or so. However, when that evil bassline first drops in, it sounds perfect every time. Maurice Fulton is God. This is the fast speed version.”

3/ DJ SNEAK - SECA DE LOCO (MENDO REMIX)

“With a sound reminiscent of Robert Armani, the incessant melody and groove always creates an urgent and energetic vibe. The off-beat clap is a particular favourite of mine. Preview only, sorry.”

4/ MADAME X - LIVIN’ FREE (VEGA DOPE DEEP INSTRUMENTAL)

“Thumping NYC beats from the legend Louie Vega. Bizarrely on Steve Angello’s label, but just forget about that. It’s just so good, stomp stomp stomp…”

5/ MOTOR CITY DRUM ENSEMBLE - RAW CUTS (RECLOOSE REMIX)

“Played this to death when it first came out and I've come back to it again recently – it’s just a beautiful track with gorgeous strings. If this track doesn’t make you feel warm inside, there’s something wrong with you.”

Adesse Versions plays i AM at the Sub Club Tonight (Dec 1st). Advance tickets are available from Resident Advisor priced at £8 (inc fees). Adesse Versions ‘Wash My Soul EP’ is out now via Local Talk.
