Local Hero: Cambie - Anything

LOCAL HERO: Cambie - Anything

Moody bassline House may be experiencing somewhat of a backlash at the moment, but that doesn’t detract from some of the blatant quality which is still on offer. Much like recent Glaswegian collaborator, This Is I, Gary Campbell aka Cambie has been attracting some positive attention recently, namely through his forthcoming Miami Sleaze heater ‘Anything’. Pool party ready.

It’s been a long time coming, but earlier this week Esa (of Rememory Music fame) announced that his debut solo release is incoming via Croatia’s excellent Burek imprint. Entitled ‘Serenity In A Forbidden Place’, you can expect all the Deep House flavour we’ve come to expect from an Esa production, spread over two reflective summer jams and an incredible remix from Fudge Fingas. Bring on the sunshine.

Sccucci Manucci is a label you can trust. In a time when download sites are inundated with mountains of music, it’s reassuring to know that there are some truly reliable sources. Thankfully, the same can be said about Illyus. Having exploded onto the scene last year with a number of edgy rollers, his recent effort ‘Movin’ House’ is deep, dangerous and sexy.

There’s some clear potential in Cruffy’s most recent productions, and with regular appearances at Saint Judes, things are starting to pick up momentum. ‘Easy Does It’, one of two cuts he sent us recently, has an instant appeal which resonates on a number of levels. Trance-like synths and a futuristic sheen make it both crisp and classy, while the bassline nails it straight to the floor.
