RELEASE: Slow It Down & Elijah Collins - Alright EP

Following on from their incredible contribution to Ruben & Ra’s Retrospective All Starrs compilation back in May, Slow It Down have released details of their debut EP in collaboration with London-based producer Elijah Collins. Due for release on both vinyl and digital formats, ‘Alright’ features four tracks, each one overflowing with an irresistible 80s-funk. Building on the vast series of edits the guys have released over the last few years, it gives us great pleasure to report that their debut, while moving things forward ever so slightly, still retains that instantly recognisable Slow It Down stamp.

Lead track ‘Alright’, which is inspired by NV’s 83’ classic of the same name, chugs along with a confident combination of over the top power-vocals and sparkling synths, while ‘I Don’t Need’ (sampling Cherelle’s 88 hit ‘Affair’ to great effect), will require a great deal of spandex to be truly appreciated. Slow It Down’s solo effort, ‘Tramodol Boogie’ rolls with a similar sheen, while Ruben & Ra’s own mix of ‘Alright’ adds a housier edge to what is an accomplished and satisfying package.
