Local Hero: S-Type - Walrus

LOCAL HERO: S-Type – Walrus

Aww shit...it’s finally here. After months of anticipation, LuckyMe release S-Type’s debut EP next week, and to say we’re excited wouldn’t just be an understatement, but a misleading restraint of our emotions. Channelling the same type of electric swagger used by Rustie and Chromeo, ‘Walrus’ is a super-charged slice of future funk which needs your attention. Pick up the release on Oct 16th in both vinyl & digital formats.

It’s safe to say that we’ve been well and truly seduced by the sound of Grobbie’s alter-ego, North Sea. Following on from his incredible ‘Bones EP’ – a four track fusion of delicate soundscapes and cinematic beauty – he has now uploaded something of overwhelming power in the form of ‘A Gram Of Charlie’. Sampling Charlie Chaplin’s infamous ‘Barber’s Speech’ with astonishing execution, this is extremely gripping stuff.

It’s been a non-stop summer for The Revenge, and things certainly don’t show any sign of slowing down. Unleashing this hot new mix on N-Zino & Frank! last week, you won't be surprised to hear that Graeme Clark has delivered once again. Centered around a pulsating bassline which eventually breaks around the four minute mark, you’ll find the resulting synth line utterly irresistible.

Milton Jackson has always got a place on this blog; his productions ooze a late-night mixture of suave and sleaze which is hard to ignore. Coming on like ‘DSI’s’ bad-ass older brother, ‘Breakdowns’ uses a combination of dreamy synths and dirty basslines to produce a house-hybrid of unsettling tension. We’d imagine this going down a treat come 4am in a sweaty warehouse.
