Local Heroes: Mia Dora, HaHaHa & Raksha - Ill-defined

LOCAL HEROES: Mia Dora, HaHaHa & Raksha – Ill-defined

When we come to compile our end of year charts it’s fairly obvious that High Sheen all-stars Mia Dora, HaHaHa & Raksha will feature quite heavily. Following on from their inter-stellar debut, they return to our stream this week with a slamming slice of peak-time Techno which has already claimed support from the likes of Eats Everything, Toddla T & Jackmaster. Prepare to sweat…

Not many people can level a dancefloor like Gary Beck. Peak-time weapons like ‘Diva’ and of course the incendiary ‘Consumed’ are still causing damage some four years on, and this month after much anticipation he unleashed debut album ‘Bring A Friend’. Taken from it is first single ‘Before The Crash’, a devastating slice of driving Techno which is sure to do the work tonight at Pressure.

Who is Jaded Laur? Your guess is as good as ours, but we do know that this dangerously hypnotic slice of lo-fi electronica has caught our attention in a big way. Drifting in with the ominous beat of a tribal drum, ‘Mauuuuuve’ slowly builds into a captivating constellation of shimmering synths and delicate rhythm, shrouding the listener in a cloak of sonic mystery. That's right.

Finally, we just had to finish with this today. Criminally short but oozing with flavour, ‘Groovera’ comes fresh from the lab of Philanthrobeats resident Fortywinks.  Swaggering into the room with an air of unmistakable cool, you’ll find it hard not to be instantly seduced by its sleazy charm, employing a boom-bap drum pattern and wavering synths to caress your soul.
