COMPETITION: The Arches Presents…Skreamizm

It’s the type of line up that only The Arches could pull off with any conviction, a night which needs the cavernous expanse of a warehouse and the capacity to satisfy the hundreds of punters who will inevitably fill it. Since its announcement some weeks ago the anticipation has been steadily building, and now this Saturday one of Dubstep’s biggest names and a pioneering legend of the scene brings his ‘Skreamizm Tour’ to Glasgow. The man in question is of course Croydon’s very own Oliver Jones aka Skream, and with him he brings the cream of forward-thinking, party-starting electronica.

Having kicked off last Saturday in Toulouse, the tour is set to celebrate the all-encompassing spectrum of bass and of course Skream’s world-renowned series of events and releases under the Skreamizm signature. Taking in locations such as Barcelona, Antwerp and Rome, it is perhaps Glasgow which can boast one of the hottest line ups as he’s joined by Scuba, Oneman and local hero, Jackmaster. There is undoubtedly no need to introduce Skream; his legacy (even at the age of 26) is quite astonishing, having been instrumental in taking Dubstep to the masses. From building the blueprint of the sound in the early noughties to holding down a coveted Friday night slot on Radio 1 with partner in crime Benga, he is a legend in his time. Asked about what to expect musically from his live sets he enthuses “everything from House, Techno, Disco to Jungle…it's gonna be fun”.

And it’s this inclusive approach that makes this tour so appealing. Look down the line up and you’ll see Scuba, a linchpin of modern Techno and progressive-tinged House, Oneman, a DJ’s DJ who explores the interconnecting relationship between Garage, Dubstep and Grime, and Jackmaster, Numbers poster-boy and a cross-genre talent of enviable proportion. Add to that the home-grown hype of Deadly Rhythm and Bake All Caps, and this may just be the biggest party of the year…

The competition closes at 6pm on Thu 20th September and the winners will be notified via Facebook shortly after (please check your Facebook in the hours following the closure of the competition - failure by the winners to confirm notification by 3pm the following day may result in re-opening the competition on a first-come, first-serve basis). The winners must be 18 years or older. After we have passed on the winner’s details to the event organisers we then pass on responsibility for entry on the night.
