Quickie: 10 Years Of Argonaut Sounds

QUICKIE: 10 Years Of Argonaut Sounds
Ten years of anything is impressive, never mind ten years of quality parties as one of Glasgow’s premier soundsystems. This Friday Argonaut Sounds celebrate a decade in the game as they descend on Blackfriars Basement for four hours of Reggae, Dancehall and ‘Jamaican flavour’. Having launched Subcity’s longest running radio show back in 2002 and subsequently an impressive series of events which have graced everywhere from the old Ivy to the now defunct Hetherington, the ever-dedicated collective have released a nostalgia-stirring album of photos featuring some of the landmark moments in their extensive quest to get down in G-Town.
Particular highlights include setting up the soundsystem amid a wall of mirrors at the Captain’s Rest, a rare combination of good weather and good vibes at the West End Festival and stacking up at The Ivy before it moved to Argyle St in 2008. Certainly having been prevalent on the scene for so long you can expect this Friday’s party to be both a celebration of the past and yet another milestone in what has been an incredible ten years.
