No summer is complete in Glasgow without a blazing session at The Courtyard. While it is rather dependent on the weather there is no greater feeling then emerging from that dark bar, donning your shades and launching yourself into a full day of excess. Walking into The Courtyard is like discovering a small slice of raving paradise - time has no bearing and the outside world just doesn’t exist. When the sun is shining, there is quite simply no where better to be on a Saturday afternoon, and who better to bring those feel-good vibes than Glasgow’s own Chungo Bungo?

It’s been hard to ignore the rise of the easy-skankin’ duo over the last year - their love for all things dub has seen them headline Subcity’s Sweet Sixteen at The Arches, hold down a weekly residency at 520, while also putting on their own parties around the city. Their genuine passion for the reggae-dancehall vibes is apparent in everything they do, from crafting hugely popular mixtapes for the masses to securing exclusive dubplates from Brother Culture and YT, Chungo Bungo have become masters of their sound. This Saturday they invite the Glasgow massive to join them for an all day dance party in which they will be joined by the aforementioned Brother Culture and Kings Hi-Fi premier selector Don Zebby.

Having been on the circuit since 1982, Brother Culture is widely recognised as one of the most influential MC’s around as his 29 year career has taken him around the world to some of the biggest and bassiest soundsystems. With releases on the likes of Scotch Bonnet, Dub Head and Manasseh his presence on Saturday will be truly inspiring. Meanwhile, Kings Hi-Fi will be representing with badman selector Don Zebby, who apart from having some of the finest dubs in the country has also worked with the likes of Aba Shanti, Kenny Knots and Mikey Murka. If that wasn’t enough, Chungo Bungo have also invited some of their skank-ready friends to ease you through the afternoon and into the night. Come rain or shine, this Saturday at The Courtyard will most definitely be good times.
